IM Able Games Sept 21, 2024 9-noon

The IM Able Games will take place in Bern Township this year on these roads behind the airport: Arnold Road, Aviation Road, Leiscz’s Bridge Road and Van Reed Road will have one lane closed for the runners and bikers. The open lane will be used by vehicles. Persons living in the West Shore development and in the Leiscz’s Bridge Road area behind the airport will be able enter and exit the activity area. We ask that you have patience during this 3-hour period. Other pass-through traffic should avoid this area so it is less congested for the residents who live there and safer for the runners / bikers. Thank you.

Twp Building Construction

Due to on-going construction inside the Twp Building the September and October 2024 Supervisors and Planning meetings will be held at Bern Lutheran Church, 820 West Leesport Road, Leesport, PA 19533. (Follow the posted signs.) BTMA will hold their meetings at Reading Airport.

Bern Yard Waste Center

Please be advised that as of Monday, August 26, 2024, the yard waste center on Hilltop Road will be closed to the public.

We are closing the center until approximately sometime before the end of October to allow for the renovation and expansion of the center. This work involves earth excavation, fencing, security systems and placement of large concrete blocks. It would be very unsafe to allow the public to continue to use the center while heavy equipment is moving around to complete the work.

During the time the center is closed, you are asked to hold your yard waste materials on your property, or place it in your trash. Any person caught dumping material at the center while it is under construction will be prosecuted. There are cameras at the county recycling center that will assist in catching any perpetrators.

When this work is completed, the center will re-open to Bern Township residents ONLY. The revised center will be larger, have fencing and access gates and a security system.
An email blast has already been sent to Twp residents, so be sure the Twp has your email address so you can get future updates.

Twp Building Construction

At this time there is a major construction and renovation project at the
Bern Municipal Building.
This work is expected to last a few more months.

So please be patient if there is a lot of background noise, like jack
hammers, when you telephone.
It may be difficult for us to hear you, and we may have to move to a quieter
part of the building to handle your call.
Thank you!
